Ancient Mith recently dropped his awesome new animated music video put together by Bryan Wade / Blueswade Cartoons!! Check it out here:
Here are a few words on the track / video from the videographer:
“Any real hip hop fan during the 80’s and 90’s can appreciate the juxtapose of hearing a rap song in the grocery store in present day. Even the thought of such mainstream acceptance, at the time, seemed light years away and the real life trajectory, most likely unforeseen by the biggest enthusiasts. Ciroc shot Kool Herc is an ode to what was, what is and what might have been, in the evolution of said circumstance. The song was inspired by reports of Kool Herc (credited as the creator of hip hop) falling on hard times coupled with celebrations of P. Diddy’s son receiving a full ride scholarship to college. While these two things are unrelated, they invoked questions about ageism, classism, and commercialization in the hip hop community and the greater market outside of it. What better way to bring this to the eyes than a motion comic capturing a colourful, fevered dream within a dream about a fictional confrontation over fortune and legacy between Kool Herc and P. Diddy. The animation style is intended to reinforce the dreaminess of the beat and lyrics. The idea of creating the video as a motion comic rather than a more traditional cartoon was to remove the slickness from the art, leaving it as organic and gritty feeling as possible. Crumpled paper and splattered ink are used to create a sense of something that’s been discarded and rediscovered, like a great old comic book that’s been found at a yard sale. ‘It’s my hope that the video comes across as a genuine love letter to the legacy of hip-hop and more immediately as a tribute to Ancient Mith’s words and music. This project has been one of challenge and discovery for me, and as a print cartoonist working in motion for the first time, really a great deal of fun.’ ” – Bryan Wade
This track is lifted from Ancient Mith’s album “And The Dead Shall Lie There” entiry produced by Matr and available via Dora Dorovitch Records right here:

“In 2012, B. DOLAN & BUDDY PEACE created “FILM THE POLICE,” a reworking of the N.W.A. classic “FUCK THE POLICE” that addressed citizens’ rights to film cops in the wake of the Oscar Grant shooting. The song caught fire during the wave of Occupy Wall St. protests that coincided with it’s release, developing a life of it’s own as a hashtag that traveled the world on the lips of protesters and activists resisting police brutality.
This year brings the release of HOUSE OF BEES 3, the latest in a series of mixtapes from B. Dolan & Buddy Peace, who have this time chosen to rework RICK ROSS and JAY-Z’s 2013 single “The Devil is A Lie” to tell the story of the real man behind a rapper’s name; that of drug kingpin “Freeway” Ricky Ross and his connection to the Iran-Contra scandal”.
HOUSE OF BEES VOL. 3 coming soon!!

Got to give this a good listen recently and I really enjoyed the album right through. It’s really refreshing to come accross a group like this and I really look forward to their future works.

“Spacesuits”, the fresh new project from LMNO, Moka Only & Mr. Brady, produced by Jules Chaz is officially out today and you can grab yourself a copy right here!!!
“What happens when three veteran power houses LMNO from the mighty Visionaries crew, Moka Only with over 50 albums deep in the game, and musical work horse Mr Brady’s rawness let loose over madman producer extraordinaire Jules Chaz beats? You get the eagerly awaited project Spacesuits. Spacesuits came to light when Moka Only introduced Jules Chaz to Mr Brady a few years back via internet. Jules Chaz sent Mr Brady about 30 beats that He sat on trying to figure out what to do to them. “They were so raw, genius, and out of this world I wanted to approach them right,” Mr Brady said. One day LMNO came to record at Mr Brady’s studio, and he let him hear the beats. He flipped out and they immediately knocked out a couple of tracks that same day. After listening to them, they hit up Moka Only to do a feature for one of the tracks. The three of them sounded so good together, and they have so much history together from Battle Axe records in the past, it only made sense to asked Moka if he would be down to record the whole album with them. After all, Moka Only was the one to introduce them to Jules Chaz, so it made perfect sense. After listen to a few songs, and how out of this world they sounded, the name and the project Spacesuits took flight. There effortless cohesiveness is evident with Spacesuits. They bounce off one another, and jump in and verses like the veterans they are. Spacesuits shows their versatility and ability to adapt to Jules Chaz Zany production. With Spacesuits, Not only will you get raw lyrics and beats like the songs Speedy, and _meteor, but you will also get stories with songs like heist and _chicks, as well as a array of spaced out joints and interludes. So grab your moon boots and get ready for lift off because Spacesuits is ready to take off!”
They also recently dropped this awesome video for their track “Speedy” lifted from the album and you can check it out here:

New York producer Willie Green just dropped his new E.P. called “A Suite For Souled People” focusing on and around the tragic events that happened in Ferguson, Missouri recently. It features Elucid, Curly Castro, and billy woods and is in our opinion, simply incredible. The powerful and emotive messages, and awe-inspiring production makes this a must have Project in 2014…
You can get your copy for free download right here:
“The recent events in Ferguson, Missouri (as well as Staten Island, Beavercreek, Ohio, and Los Angeles) have lifted a veil of comfortable ignorance across this country. The murder of Michael Brown, resultant cover up and egregious treatment of protesters has shown that the perception of Black people in America has changed little since the Civil Rights movement of the 1960’s. Americans live in a country where the oppressed are dehumanized and told to be quiet and gracious about their anger; and where the oppressors are harbored by our government and rewarded by our peers. Where the media warps facts to prove agendas against citizens and digital voices rush to play devil’s advocate to conceal their own bias. These are terrifying statements and not exaggerations. I’m no revolutionary. But I am someone who wants to look his children in the eyes and say when his country showed its worst, he did something”. – Paul “Willie Green” Womack, Sept. 15th, 2014
