London based emcee Joshua just dropped his debut LP “The Context” and sent it our way; all I can say is that it’s one truly incredible piece of work start to finish! The first thing that struck me was Joshua’s hard-hitting, straight up, tell it like it is lyricism that really put’s everything he relays in his message into complete perspective. Mix this with Gurps’ flowing melodic beats that compliment Joshua perfectly really makes for one hell of an album and one that I can highly recommend adding to any good hiphop collection. It’s music with a message that puts you in the shoes of the story teller whether he’s discussing the ills of consumerism, self-empowerment, love, war, hunger, oppression… well I’m sure you can get what I’m saying… real issues that affect a wide variety of people all over that I’m sure most can relate to no matter where you’re from. It’s all about “The Context” in which you choose to see it. This album has truly moved me and I’m grateful for the opportunity to listen and share my thoughts on it.
